My shettie/Sec A x has perfected the art of getting her muzzle off. Ive tried wrapping the strap through her headcollar and clipping the muzzle and headcollar together but she has learnt how to rub her head on the floor and gets the whole lot off!! Someone suggested plaiting the muzzle strap into her mane. Does anyone do this. Im thinking that is she rubs it to get it off it may dislodge but still be attached to her mane, then if she gets it caught up somewhere shes gonna pull her mane out as well. Im happy to try it but not convinced its safe, any success stories out there?

This is how I keep my section a's mask on, plait a chunky section of mane just behind the ears; then thread the strap through it. He rarely manages to get it off this way - despite his best attempts, and if he does its because the strap has come undone

I too plait the mane over the muzzle headpiece. He's never yet got the muzzle off doing it this way although he's managed to get one ear out a few times.

Thank you, I shall try it tomorrow then. The paddock that she grazes whilst muzzled has some nice patches of longer grass in the hedgerow so I know she can eat whilst wearing it, there's just too much to leave her there without it so the little toad has 2 choices. Keep it on and get some grass, keep pulling it off and its the very bare paddock!!

I also think threading the headpiece through a plait would be the best option for such a sneaky pony - my friend has the same problem with her daughter's little welshie and that is the only way that prevents him from getting his muzzle off and pigging out! Good luck!
