How to keep box rest horse coat in good order

My boy is on box rest, probably for another 3-4 months. His coat looks greasy and dull. I do brush him daily but with his Highland coat (thanks to his dam) it makes no appreciable difference. He looks quite neglected, which he isn't.

Any ideas as how to make him look smarter.

what about hot clothing if it gets a little less nippy this week?

I have hot clothed with vinegar but made no real difference.

Add linseed oil or veg oil to his dinner, give him a bath and dowse him in show sheen... Nothing will get through that combination!!
