Hi my mare has two white socks on back legs! have tried purple shampoo no avail...they look yellow and unclean-any ideas or advice thanks

I love Wahl Diamond White and Dirty Beastie for my ponies white bits. I rub in well, slosh with warm water and rub in again, leave for a couple of minutes and then rinse really well with warm water.

Also brilliant is the Canter Coat Whitener, which I spray on, rub in, leave for a couple of minutes then again, rinse well with warm water :)

Wahl diamond white is excellent for white socks :)

If it's for a show then you could put white powder on the night before, bandage, then brush off on morning of show. Sparkling white! :)

Wahl diamond white works but you can get the same thing off an agricultural supplier for half the price for twice the amount - just look for sheep face whitener.

Supreme Products Leg and Body Whitener. Does the business on the show horses. Make it up into a paste and paint it on with a paint brush. We then bandage until the horse goes into the ring. Take the bandages or leg wraps off and use a soft brush on the socks to remove any residue.

Some show people clip white socks with a blade that doesn't cut too close, this makes them much easier to keep clean and apply whitener to

Slather (I mean it!) tomato ketchup on them, leave on for 15 minutes then wash off with water. Wash & shampoo with fairy platinum soap. - sparkly white.

I say do it couple of days before your show so if it is so engrained you have time to do ketchup again and that will make ketchup easier on the day!

I don't even bother now! mine has grey socks! we have rubber and what is now black sand in our school and on the walker, it totally stains his socks, so they can stay that colour, unless he turns into a good boy over night and wants to go out showing! until then, he can stay grey haha
