My 4 year old mare is just broken and currently hacking on the road (with schoolmaster) and doing very light schooling (walk and trot). At times, she seems to be taking very small strides in walk, is there a reason she could be doing this? She was shod for the first time on Tuesday, and since then she's been more comfortable hacking, but still not going forward as well as she could be. I know she can do it, if she see's another horse or something interesting she picks her stride up. I just don't want to have to keep the leg on and leave her desensitised to it.
Thanks in advance.
