As above really. Put a post on a while ago asking about the stuff and ended up buying it.

How do I mix it/stop it from solidifying?

Used it on Red this morning and when I got him in a while ago there were absolutely no flies on him, and so far as I could tell, no midges (could see them both around the other horses)!!

Many thanks in advance!

Dunno :) but I used the oil I'd purchased for self on my friend horse tonight as he's got a bacterial skin problem so I'm hoping it helps ease his itching .. Remembered it also keeps flies away so added bonus for him..but boy ..it does pong!

I mixed mine with supreme mane and tail oil and it worked a treat - not the most cost effective way of doing it but he has sweet itch

This year I will be mixing it with aqueous cream

Not sure about making it in to a spray, I would possibly dilute it a little with a drop citronella oil then dilute that with water. Or maybe add it as an extra ingredient to one of the fly spray recipes suggested on here - I think there was sticky thread but failing that do a search. Or maybe add to a cheap bottle of mane and tail spray?

Whatever you do don't use baby oil as that gets very hot in the sun. The supreme oil has sunscreen in.

I agree it reeks vile!!

Thanks WelshD, I bought it as Red has SI too, so I like the idea of supreme oil! I guess it doesn't matter whether or not it's a spray so long as it works!

it doesnt matter too much if it solidifies as it will still infuse in the solution. I just give my mix a good shake before i use it.

The oil is good as midges don't like biting through oil so it is a double whammy

I use the oil along the roots of the mane, around the ears, forelock and top of the tail. The plan this year is to use the aqueous cream mix around his sheath area and under his tummy

It will not solidify when placed in the sun, put the bottle in warm water, by a radiator the pour on to a sponge and wipe over body, and will and tail head, belly etc

Get a base oil for fly spray, i use the blue one called soft and fresh from Avon Skin So Soft. I add a teaspoon of various essential oils plus cold water and 4 capfuls of dettol to a 250ml bottle of it.

The oils I use are neem (run under hot water first), citronella, eucalyptus, tea tree, whatever, really.
