Anyone suggest where I can get the materials to make one of these? I want to put a bar up across the inside of the lower door, but also be able to move it quickly when I want to get the horse in and out. It's for a young horse so I do not want to use a chain or door guard. I want something strong as the horse keeps leaning over the door and I am worried he's going to push too hard one day.

AH, yes - now that would be perfect. Used to have exactly the same sort of thing at a yard I used to be at.

A metal pole (like a scaffolding pole) attached to a hinge-like mechanism (cannot remember what it looked like) which allowed the pole to swing down vertically out of the way, against the door frame. When lifted up across the doorway, it clipped in securely into something which looked like a gate closure.

like this, but obviously more industrial and safe for a stabled horse.

It worked great. Is it something anyone's ever seen made up and available for sale off-the-shelf?
