Hi there, I put my mare on Regumate last November as she was very stressed and had a bout of colic. It seems to have had a very calming effect on her. Should I now (Dec) take her off it for a few months rest or is it OK to just continue using it throughout the year. I don't do a massive amount of work at this time of the year but it does make such a difference. IF I stop the Regumate should I reduce it gradually or just stop giving it to her.

I give it to my hormonal one for 2 or 3 months of the year.. I just stop it when I think she's going to be ok.

I stopped Regumate for my young mare in late October. She was very unhappy and clearly uncomfortable. Had full lameness work up and ovaries scanned with no obvious problem. Back on Regumate now and back to happy horse. Vet advice was to keep her on it for now and she may grow out of the symptoms but as it helps her it is better to keep her on it.

Mine stays on it all year round , I did try having a couple of months without it but her symptoms returned.

Ric my mare did not need it until she was 17 She is 20 now so do not think she will grow out of it!
