how to measure for a hat..

need to get one for my 2 yr old boy, how do i do it? (he says he wants to do horse jumps whilst riding my 16.3 yesterday)
is easier to go to tack shop with some sort of idea as he NEVER stays still! thanks x

Run a tape measure round the circumference of his head at the widest point, above the ears. Keep the tape firm but not tight. Hats are measured in cm. Some of the lighweight endurance type helmets come in adjustable sizes. They work in a similar way to cycling helmets. I've never tried one.

Many manufacturers do kids styles in helmets which are great because they are VAT free and have fun patterns on the lining and sometimes a carry box for the hat. The only way is trying on though. I have 2 hats, one is a 58cm, the other a 57cm, but both fit perfectly (made by different manufacturers). Make sure the saddler is approved to fit hats (look for the BETA sign). Also make sure that the hat is approved to current standards. Lots of info on here
