Im going to see a third horse on saturday after being let down so majorly with the last two after both had gotten as far as being moved to my yard. Im going to see a horse that sounds so lovely and i really dont want to get my hopes up just incase this one fails like the last but I cant help but get excited for it!! I dont want to be so let down if it doesnt work out - so the question is, how do i stop myself getting my hopes up!

Assume it's going to be a waste of time. If it turns out that it was, then at least you were prepared. If it turns out the horse is a perfect fit, then it's a pleasant surprise.

Pretty much what Viking said. I had gotten my hopes up so much on the very first horse I saw that when he failed the vetting, I was miserable and didnt really care about seeing any other horse. In fact, I went to one place to see a mare I had liked the sound of and wasnt interested at all at first in the gelding I eventually bought. Glad I gave him a chance though despite seeing him rear, he was a damn good buy, and a good deal. But my method probably isnt one to copy. :p

I'm not sure you can ever not get your hopes up. If we didn't then we wouldn't do anything! Life is a triumph of hope over experience. But what experience teaches you is that great as this one or that pine might sound / be there is always something else around the corner. So go ahead and hope - and dream. But be realistic with it and know that not everything is going to be perfect for you.
