Last year, I clipped Ralph only an adapted trace as he was only being schooled by my trainer. He developed a really nasty rash to his neck that required flamazine cream from the vet. I've been clipping him for years, usually a full clip and never had a problem.

So, I'm a tad worried he's going to get it again this year, any ideas on how to prevent it? My clippers were clean, could it be too much oil??

It is usually the clipper oil that causes the rash, to help prevent this you need to either bath (weather permitting) him immediately after clipping him or wipe him down with warm water that contains a very dilute Dettol, this removes the oil better than soap and prevents the unsightly rash but make sure you dont use too much Dettol or it can have an adverse reaction on sensitive skinned horses!
