Can anyone tell me how to pronounce the name Loughehoe? As in the stallion Loughehoe Guy.
Is is Luff - e - how?
Or Google translate says it Law- ho rhymes with How - ho

Any ideas?
It's in my new Irish filly's name, which is which is why I'm asking!
Thanks

Thanks, I didn't know the lough was pronounced Loch, sounds like you may have it right!

oh i dunno - many irish spellings hardly look how they should be pronounced…its a hard language!

There are a few irish on here who might know the truly proper way to say it….but lough is said loch normally….but when joined with ’ehoe’ it might change the pronounciation!

Like the irish prime minister is called the ‘Taoiseach’ - so youd think its said ‘T-ow -ee-sich’ or something,
but it’s said ‘tis-suc’ which sounds a lot like ‘t-shirt’ - so i call him T-shirt! ?

we say Loch eh hoe for that particular one
But I'm not sure if thats right!

ETA Loch being just a wee teeny bit softer than Lock but not much difference

My immediate thought was logg eh hoe, but it will depend on what part of the country your from lol

Thanks everyone!
I've just listened to an Irish commentator who pronounced it Loch - a - ho
Sounds like it's either that, or Loch - ho

His dam is LoughAhoe Star so commentators often default to that pronounciation. That A or E in Irish is quite flat/quiet and sort of run into the loch and ho parts, it's not emphasised. Does that help?
