I move yards this weekend for the first time EVER! It's only due to relocation, not because I am unhappy with my current yard at all.
The yard i've been at for the last 6 years is where I learnt to ride and where my mare was bred. The owner of that yard (with help from a friend of mine who was already there) has allowed me to ride her horses, take them to small shows, and basically do whatever I liked for the last 6 years. She has been a true mentor to me, teaching me, giving me guidance and helping me out to absolutely no end with my own horse!
Even to the point where she offered to drive Lilly to the new yard this weekend in her lorry which unfortunately broke down last week. Instead of asking me to hire one for the day or shopping around, she messaged me last night saying "On way home with new lorry, she will make it to the ball!".
We used to live across the road from eachother and I've babysat and looked after the dogs when she went away, and I would say she is definitely my friend before she's my yard owner.
I can't put into words how much I appreciate everything she's done for me and now that i'm leaving I want to try and find a way to say thank you. I don't have a huge amount of money but I was trying to think of a nice gift I could give alongside a card.
Any ideas?
