How to ship a saddle

Odd question - I've just sold a saddle on ebay (synthetic) and I need to ship it safely. I was thinking a big box with lots of packaging (peanuts and soft foam) to cushion the whole saddle.

Anyone got any suggestions for shipping it safely? Any specific company that is good to use to ship it (UK)? Thanks!

Yep that is how I send saddles - big box, lots of packaging :) I am cheapskate so I use MyHermes, yep I know there are LOTS of negative posts about them, they haven't let me down yet and I always select the appropriate level of insurance (better than nothing!)

Insure it. I sold one for £350 and packaged it well. Paid a bit extra for cover up to £300 (was about £10 extra) and was glad I did- buyers received it and on close inspection the tree had broken.
Luckily the company (think it was my Hermes) excepted an email from saddler and pictures (which could only show a slight crease as of course internal damage) and they paid £300 within a few days and refunded cost of postage.

Such a shame

My friend has had saddle arrive in just a pillow case in one piece!
