I've just brought a 10 year old leopard spot Appaloosa Gelding and I'm unsure on how to present him at a shows (in hand or ridden)

Due to the breeds thinner mane I would have difficulty plaiting him etc, so not entirely sure what the criteria would be, other than clear hoof oil only.

Any presentation tips for an appy would be greatly appreciated!

Also, looking for suggestions on colours for his gear?

Below are some photos of him with a young girl at the yard. As you can see he mainly has brown spots although he does have some darker grey areas around the face/neck.

Thanks! :)

When we showed appaloosas, no matter how thin the mane, we always plaited. Also trimmed them as for a riding horse.

Looks a nice type - you will need a good workmanlike bridle for him as he is quite huntery.

You can look on line for the photos at some of the bigger shows to see how the winners turn out - that is your best bet!
