How to split a vets visit bill?

Just out of interest (I probably should just ring up the vet), if you have the vet out for 4 horses with 3 owners would you expect the visit cost to be divided by the three owners or the four horses?

I’d expect it to be divided by the number of owners.

I would divide by no of horses but it depends how its billed

3 owners, since if the owner of 2 horses had phoned the vet alone, they’d have only paid one callout fee.

Not sure if other vets do it differently but I am only charged for one call out even if I am having both horses seen to. If another on the yard wants to join that call out the vet splits the cost in half for the two owners.

Our vets do it by owners so I had 2 horses vaccinated and another horse was also seen and I paid 1/2 the call out

Owners. But as @Apercrumbie says, I wouldn't wrangle too much if it was settled as horses. It's not likely to make a massive difference in the bill.

I’d give half of your third to each owner in that case.

When my vets forgot split the bill between me and another owner, I called them up and they adjusted the bill for both owners.

I would call the vets and say they forgot to split it and let them sort it out.

I only pay one call out for the 3 of them, so I would divide by number of owners.

Easiest would be to calk the vets and say they forgot to include you in the split for the call out fee. They will re-issue the bill then.
I'd expect to split it by the number of owners too but it's such a small amount that I wouldn't fight over it either way.

As an ex receptionist I would bill the owner who made the booking an expect them to sort the call out between them.

My vet suggested I book a particular date as I could share the call out fee.
When the bill arrived they’d forgotten to deduct half the fee. I called them and they adjusted it and sent a replacement invoice.
