My mum has recently moved her horse on to a new field. There haven't been horses there for a good few years (about five ish). The middle paddock of three is fairly bare on two thirds of it, as the crows have been digging it all up. Unfortunately, now there are horses there, the crows are back with a vengeance and this time they're digging at all three fields and we have very little grass left because of this.

So, the long and the short is, is there any way we can stop the birds from ruining the field...?

You will find that the crows are taking out all the nasty bugs and some good ones from the ground they also, believe it or not move the horses droppings to get to the bugs and last year they cleared a lot of mose from my big field looking for grubs. You could use a bird scarer but that would get your horses upset and your neighbours.

Why not shoot them
It might not be everyones cup off t, you wouldn't need to use a shot gun.
Someone with a high powered air rifle and a good clean shot.
I've shot alot of birds over all kinds of livestock with out any problems.
I've shot rabbits with a 12g in a field with horses and after the first shot they took no notice.
If you go down this route make sure who you have is fully insured.
