I wondered if any of you clever people had any ideas. My horse is being clipped today and I am dreading rugging her as every year her mane gets rubbed. I think it's from the rugs with attached neck covers. I can't really afford to go out and buy new rugs. Any suggestions?

Are you handy with needle and thread? You could remove the fixed neck cover and find a way to overlay it over the main body of the rug (you can buy loose trigger clips to fit it on with) to prevent rubbing

That is a brill idea, but I will have to find someone to do it as I am USELESS at anything which involves a needle and thread.

bah! this isn't hard, simple blanket stitch to finish the open edges and then sew on two or three fixing points. I expect if you asked your rug wash/repair people they would do it and machine sew a binding on the edges too

hiya!!!!!

the only rugs i find that dont rub manes are ones without fixed neck covers. All bloss's have the neck covers that are attached by straps not zips/velcro , so that when she moves her neck the neck bit moves with her from the join. With the ones that have velcro/are fixed or have a zip they is no give at the join.

Do you see what im getting at? (im not great at explaining these things!!)

Agree with P_G - only ones that don't rub my lad are the detachable neck ones.

Tried a hoody last year and that made it worse
