Give me your best remedies to take away the itch of a horse fly bite! One just got me on the ankle and it’s taking everything in my power to stop me from scratching it

One got me on my left ankle this afternoon, it’s synchronised hf biting ! I’m using a sting relief roll-on with ammonia. Smells rough but is doing the job.

Boil the kettle, fill up a mug, stick a (metal) teaspoon in for a couple of minutes, take it out, when it's bearable to put it on your skin press the back of the teaspoon on the bite and leave it there for a minute or two. I swear it works! My lodger told me this a couple of weeks ago and I was very skeptical but I couldn't believe it when it took the itch away. (I get chewed alive by horseflies every year and have tried pretty much everything).

I bought a small device that sends a spark between 2 prongs, a bot like a mini taser. It really does seem to work. It kind of scratches the itch without actually scratching it. I think he spark kills a bit of the skin? Nerve? too as it seems to stay not as itchy for a while.

My bites get their own pulses. Honestly, pulses you can see. White/red/white/red... weird. They swell up. They sometimes give out pus.

It is delicious to use the device. Sometimes smells a bit burney too

Make a paste with water and bicarbonate of soda and smear that on if you havenot got afterbite stick..I’m using an anti itch cream and I found relief from last years after sun lotion with aloe Vera in it. I’ve got two bites on the go at the moment ?

Anthisan antihistamine cream, or chemist's own equivalent. If I get bitten by a cleg ('horsefly' I think in England) I swell up so badly it looks like an extra muscle. Antihistamine cream (to rub on, not eat!) takes the itch away.

It works, only have to do it once, and it doesn't involve chemicals or having to go to the shop to buy something. Win win!

I have a tube of Tesco 'Bite and sting relief' - active ingredient hydrocortisone. Cheap as chips and works great for horse fly bites......
