If she goes normally in one direction but badly in the other, maybe she's in pain? Just a thought?
What does she do?
You try having someone leading her whilst you stand in the middle, to reinforce your commands?
Samba did this when I got her, she lunged beautifully on one rein and not the other. Back and teeth checked and she had not yet had tack on. She wasnt scared of my lunge whip so I gently pressed it flat on side and as soon as she moved away to the other direction I dropped it. Other than for turning her to on the left rein I never have to use the whip. Infact the lash it tied up now. However I reeinforce she never saw the whip as a threat. Its funny though because if I carry a whip when riding shes petrified.??
Have you tried long-reining?
The majority of horses just prefer going in one direction over another.
Having two lines means the horse can't turn in as you control over which direction it's heads going!
Silly question how do i get her to move forward, in long reins...without flicking or touching her, as she's a bucky little madam and is likely to boot me in the face if i do....
This is normal in young, unbalanced horses. Why don't you try longreining her and then coaxing her into gentle curves in the direction she finds more difficult.
Good time to introduce voice aids!
Try just carrying a lunge whip, if you can't manage with everything in your hands to start with get someone to stand next to you with it.
Ask for walk accompanied by a "click" of the tongue, if she doesn't walk on flick the end of the lungewhip towards her rear end. Having the lungewhip between you and the horse SHOULD mean the horse would prefer to keep out in the circle rather than come towards you. If she bucks at you flick the lungewhip again and get her going forward. Same with trott, ask and then reinforce the question with the flick of the whip. Having the outside rein will ensure she keeps out and the lunge whip will encourage the forward action
It wont take long for her to pick it up. Just do it in short periods and always end on a good note.
