Five or so days ago, my horse got her foot tangled in a spring gate of an electric fence and obviously has had to hooley about the field trying to get free. She sustained a small slice to her front heel (looks like minor over reach) but the next day presented with swelling and heat on inside of her foreleg, middle/upper third. a bit unhappy on it but not lame. I have been cold hosing and icing and the swelling is better when turned out and seemed to fill when standing in. It has now been cold and swelling down for 24 hours (in at night, out during the day). Just wondering if anyone else has experienced such a random, rapid change in presentation? I would have expected any soft tissue damage to a ligament etc to have remained swollen for a more prolonged period? Could she have kicked / knocked herself or is it more possible we are looking at ligament/tendon issue? Waiting on an appointment to scan with vet.
