how to use myler bits with hooks

do the reins have to go in the hook, or can they go on outside as normal?

i think you can use it either way as you can buy the myler with or without hooks. the reins on the hooks give a stronger directional aid and the bit becomes more 'fixed'. also i think it adds to the poll pressure. im only gussing tho!

well i used a myler on my mare. she goes well in it. those bits with hooks are designed to be used as such - you could always get one without hooks. the hooks provide for that bit more poll pressure

I usually use the hooks but have ridden without using them. It works both ways but the bit has a different action if you don't use them.
