Okay so my loan pony is in a sheepskin half pad because it helps with his back. Anyway, was asked Friday by the senior instructor/owner of Vic if I could wash it because we had had the saddler out and we need to keep using his old one for the time being. His saddle is older than me and isn't in brilliant condition but fits him without being horrific. His half pad is very flat so isn't offering a huge amount of support. I have no idea how to wash it though. I don't want to ruin in then have to go out and buy a new one because I don't have the £60 to go and do that.
It's a Horseware Rambo Sheepskin Half Pad is what I believe they are called?

I put human hair conditioner on mine and wash on the machine. Never had a problem and always come out like new.

If you know what its called you might be able to find the manufacturers recommendations online.
I have Lemieux sheepskin numnahs and I wash them in the washing machine with some fairy non bio at 30℃, I rub some human hair conditioner on it before washing to help keep it soft.
Not had a problem doing it this way and they've always come out clean and fluffy.
I hang up to dry naturally.
If you want to be extra careful you can buy special wool wash detergent from KM Elite, Horse Health etc.

I wash at 40℃ with non bio and dry in the tumble dryer. Mine is currently spinning in the machine in preparation for a 15 mile ride tomorrow.

Same as Follysmum and Firefly. I have Le Mieux half pads and was advised when I bought them to slather with cheapo human hair conditioner and then to use the wool wash on the machine and to air dry. I also use non-bio on all my horse stuff.

Been doing this for years and not had a problem.

I use the wool / handwash setting on the washer and put some woolite in and have always found this to bring mine up lovely (even after someone else washed it once in normal non-bio and sent it horrid!) and then air dry. If you've got no woolite then the non-bio / conditioner idea sounds sensible
