Took my lad on a fun ride today, didn't get too far when he went down a few strides after a fence, completely lost his front end and went right down on his head. He wasn't quite sound afterwards, only slightly off. Gave him about a minute to sort himself out then sacked it and brought him back. He walked out fine back to the start, had a little scoot at one point and shot off for a few strides, then came back to trot and felt sound. Trotted him briefly up the lorry park when I got back and he felt ok. So I presumed he had just tweaked himself. But when I put him out he was desperate to roll, but got down on his knees and then got pretty much straight up again

he then trotted off down the field, sound. Am very worried about the not getting down thing. What do you all think?? Thanks xx

If concerned, then get him checked by your vet!

Better to be safe than sorry,as the saying goes!
My cob once went up and over on his side,I got him checked by the vet....now I do have an over protective vet(So don't panic, when I tell you this!)...but, the next thing I know it's off to Arundel to have a bone scan, they found not one hot spot on his scan........impressed not, thank God for insurance!
Just keep a close eye on him,and as I say if in doubt get him checked....I know he will be fine.

Thanks OC, don't worry I am the most paranoid owner there is. My boy has a nasty scar on his near hind where the vet wouldn't come out because they think I'm neurotic and call them for every little thing!!!

He has no heat, no swelling anywhere and is sound. But it wasn't nice seeing him start to go down, desperate for a roll...then stand straight on his hinds to get back up

Horses do sometimes go down as if to roll, then stand up again.Doesn' tnecessarily mean he is injured. Check him thoroughlylin the morning and see how he is, if in doubt, call the vet.

Thanks Donklet (love the baby in your sig!). I am housebound at this moment with a nice case of mild food poisoning but will drag myself up there the second I feel able as I am dying to see how he is!!
