what is the quickest route, can i fly straight there also what boat when i take trailer do i take. thanks

Not sure about flights but Leeds Bradford airport fly to several destinations in Ireland. As for ferry the one from Anglesey is the best route.

I'm from Belfast & live in Lancs. You can fly Belfast City to Blackpool quite cheaply. When driving most people take ferry, Larne or Belfast - Stranraer. You know ferries won't travel horses in bad weather. There are transporters who make regular crossings to N & S Ireland. Where's sale in Yorkshire? I used to live there & Leeds Bradford is nearest airport. Quickest way is to have your own helicopter!!!

If your intending to go to York Sale coming from Ireland, I really wouldnt bother, its about the same quality as Goresbridge monthly sales

i have heard thats where all the dealers take there horses, and thought if they are taking them across the water, i should cut the middle man and go myself.

but if they are taking them over must be better prices? i dont know just want to go and have a look at them 1st then if any good. get ferry. but dont know where or how to get to it?

Ah here, there are enough cheap horses in ireland. You are highly unlikely to find anything better at a good price at Yorkshire Sales.

Leeds Bradford airport is about 40 minutes drive from YLC, an easy drive on main roads, the port at Hull is probably about the same, again an easy route. The prices are totally rubbish at the moment with a lot going for 'nothing' or not being sold. I suppose you have to decide whether or not you are going to accept rubbish money or if you are prepared to take them home if you don't get the price you want and then is it viable to travel them.

I would imagine the dealers go to york and hten anything they dont sell probably turns up at Holmfirth the next day, I doubt they ever take anything home again! The prices over here may be a bit better than over there, I understand you are having a hard time of it, but unless you are selling masses of horses I doubt it is profitable

Sorry - got confused. that was my original thought but hard to tell from the post.

Tbh, i think you would do better to sell privately or at one of the Irish sales.

also just wondering if i drive over in ferry anyone know how much it costs to go over there for each horse or what way does it work. would be car and trailer. thanks

Over the years I've sold 2 Irish Draughts to people in Southern Ireland and both horses went via Holyhead across to Dublin. I'm in Holmfirth West Yorks. With regard to Holmfirth Sales I never go to look as the quality of horses isn't good. You may pick up a coloured youngster for a reasonable price if you're lucky but most seem to be the ones dealers can't shift. Can't imagine as a seller it would be worth bringing horses over here to Holmfirth sales.
