How would she do in welsh classes?

All the welsh a's i know/seen at shows are chunky monkeys with thick manes/tail and feather.

Mystis got v.fine mane and tail, and not much feather

Would this go against her?

And basicly all round for confo and how you think she would do at local level and how far up she could get.

How big is she and how old?
My sec A isnt as chunky as they normally are for in hand but ive been told she will do very well under saddle, however over the winter she has chunked up a fair bit!
Cant really tell conf from pics and im not a v good judge anyway :lol:

Shes not ridden so she cant go in ridden classes

She would be better in ridden classes

She doesnt quite have the right build/conformation for the in-hand classes imo.
You could always take her to a few local shows and see what they think of her?

She'd probably be ok in the local level ridden ones, as she's built more like the ridden section A's. She is 'chunky' enough for the in-hand imo. However she might a touch undersized as more judges are liking them full up to height. But at local level you should be fine. But give it a go

she looks like a nice sort.. a little long in the back and a little 'plain' in the head but u never know because judges like different thins. some judges like stoky, short backed, dipped face high action A's and some people like the leaner, longer back, straight action A's. so u never know untill u try. we had an A we bred 'cilsane misty maid'.. we though she was very plain and would never do good in the show ring as she came near the end line in alot of shows, so we sold her to a friend and the next thing we knew she had won the junior brood mare in the royal welsh show 2009. so it really depends on what the judges like. give it a go

i also think she would look better under saddle as she look quite long in the back for in hand.
on the feather, mane and tail front. feathers doesn't matter imo, mane would need pulling to look natural but not too short and tail every section A i know has a thin tail.

She would probably do well at local, but to be honest she would struggle at affiliated, as she isn't fat enough , also how does she move?? - the welsh judges like them bordering on obese with big movement - disgusting isn't it?? You will need to stand her out so her front legs are more forward - she looks front heavy in the pic, and her back end could do with some building up, but I would definatley do some local showing with her and see hoe you get on, she isn't spindly in any way and is a nice little pony and would probably do very well in ridden classes rather than inhand, good luck with her and get out and have some fun!

.. and definatly thinks shes a mini arab.
Shes got loads of prescence if that helps, has to be the one everyones looking at prancing about, im not sure if her head would fit back in the trailer on the way home if she ever won anything!

Shes really hard to keep weight on so shes never gonna be fat, and id rather have her healthy and come dead last tbh!

Oh gosh, thought she was younger than that! Mines only just two!
She is a bit too fine for in hand imo, and a little too long in the back.
No harm in trying some local showing though, its all a bit of fun at the end of the day!

same as my sec c then!! I refuse to fatten her up like a beef bullock just for a rosette, why don't you trim and plait her instead?? I'm giving it a go with my C, she has floaty arab paces as well, no welsh knee action at all!!

I spent the whole of last year watching the m&m hoys/rihs/olympia ridden classes, imho she would struggle at that level and the ponies i have seen out and about are not necessarily obese just substantially built ponies and cobs. Obese ponies were often left down the line however dont forget these ponies are often super fit and have plenty of muscle making the whole appearance bigger and rounded. Infact a dartmoor i know was on a bald paddock all summer to keep her weight down - and has now been turned out and is looking rather chunky again - needless to say she is now back to plenty of exercise with only hay on tap.
Obese ponies did used to be the way to go but not anymore the majority of the time. Fit and healthy is the new welsh

. Its a pity she isn't ridden as she could do well in shp plaited up .

Our previous little section A tommy tucker did very inhand .

I would have said he was a very fine type .....

the succesful ones are disgustingly fat and huff and puff around the ring, with fat wobbling (inhand not ridden) and no, it's not sour grapes on my part as I don't show.....
