Went to the second round of the Trailblazers Showing today. Took two year old in the yearling, two and three y o section.
Only one other person came and they had beaten us in the first rounds. They won, judge said to my OH that it was because my boy needed to fill his frame. The other competitior was a pony, poss sec A? Mine is a WB, standing about 15.3 ish and is not yet 2.
We have qual for Champs but feel a bit cheated out of some competition. The people that had qual last time and the ones that had qual in the morning didn't come forward. I know one person was'nt coming as it was her yearlings first show and the judge said to her the same thing about needing to be fatter. She is a TB.
Am I being sad?

not really sure i get what you are worrying about.....is it that the section A won? if so - judges opinion can't always be rationalised!!, is it that there were only 2 of you in the class - if so dont complain!! It gets you to the next stage and I am sure there will be more competition then!!

That there wasn't anyone there I suppose. Showing youngstock seems to be on a downward spiral I think. I knew the lil pony would win as the judge seemed to know her, thats not the prob, I just wish more people had turned up. Years ago the classes would have been full, with diff sections for yearlings etc. Where are all the youngsters?

It must be disheartening when you spend all that time getting ready and difficult for the judges too, but try to be positive you've qualified and that'll be a great experience.

In breed and type classes, not Trailblazers mixed youngstock.
Would not expect a 2 yr old warmblood to be filling his frame yet though, I;d lok for paces, scope and the frame
.
Others possibly not prepared to pay the fees for next round if they can't make the final?

That was my thought too, He's growing so fast that hes using his grub for that. I don't like to see fat youngsters, i would worry about Wobblers etc.
The T.blazers showing is new, I hope the class sizes are because people are not aware about it yet??
He will go to the Champs, as long as he is sound etc as it will be a good experience for him. My other horse is going to the drsge aswell. Luckely with someone else riding as I think I will be busy enough!!

We've looked at the classes but 'Horse exceeding whatever" for ridden lumps all horses in one class, as does mixed youngtock, so won't be doing it, as it seems very pony orientated at the moment.

Good luck at the final, hope they have a judge who knows sports horse types as well as ponies.
