runs? Kind of like a driving pony, but not really. Runs into trot (but trots fine if you click) and runs into canter?
I'm thinking lots of transitions and flatwork?
Maybe hacking to help him find his balance?
And by running I mean actually runs!

Maybe he was trained to pace ? My old boy was one in his youth and sometimes does it if you ask for canter !

Where they have opposite diagonals in trot, they use both legs on same side to pace. Sorry not good at explaining this.

They can pace very very fast, as fast as a canter just about. Though to teach them to do it they hobble the legs together ...

no way i didnt know they hobble them to do that!! my friend has a pacer and it use to kick a** never would canter even when she jumped it!! but we alwasy won pairs at local shows!!

Yep; am with you on transitions, also enlarging and shrinking circles which forces them to slow down!! PF used to be a bit of a speed demon
