ok so have had new beastie a month and have am having the time of my life with him hes such good fun!!! anyway do you think his condition is ok? have been building up his workload but hes ridden twice a week for 3 hours then 2 or 3 schooling sessions and 2 - 3 1 hour hacks (with one day off - i have a sharer so he earns his keep!) hes 16.3hh - hes fed on alfa a oil and baileys no 17 with farriers formula and garlic, hes just been turned out onto more grass.. anyway does he look ok?

His weight looks fine but he looks like he has LESS topline and muscle than before, and a bit sway backed

Maybe it's just a bad angle.

I wouldn't want any more weight on him though. He's starting to develop the belly TB's get when they get fat (they seem to store fat along the sternum, unlike cobs, who put it on the ribs, bum and neck). I'd be looking to maintain him as he is now..
 
cool thanks - we have been doing lots of hacking and now we need to get down to some schooling to get him working properly. thanks for your comments its useful as he is a different shape to my last horse.

Lucky he has a new loving owner maybe - but his last owner did not mis treat him in anyway.
He has always been a happy little horse?


Kombikids - hey, yes ha looks better with some muscle starting to show - must be all that hacking!!
 
thanks viki - didnt want to give the impression that hes not always been adored cos he has, hes just got a sad face in the first pic! just wanted to make sure im feeding him ok as hes so different to last horsey. hes got a chiro coming out to give him an mot on friday, then its just saddle check and teeth to go. I always do the lot with a new horse.

Just having spoken to L today - she actually said she missed him!!

I found some pics of him yesterday - when i get chance i will forward them - they are from Patchetts.
 
he also looks like hes lost one leg!!! love to see some pics of him, have been busy with my camera too. we are still aiming for kimpton show for a clear round outing but have a hen night the night before so may just hack up and picnic! tell l she is welcome to see him whenever she wants.
 
think my other horse is at offley, i know my friend was talking about going. i have the inlaws, yuk. hope the new yard is working out well.
