We have now had Donovan for a month, and I am absolutely paranoid about his weight!

How do you think he looks? other than a little muddy!;);)

He looks well!! Wouldn't let him get any rounder but with winter coming you should be able to control his weight without too much of a problem. He is a handsome boy though :-)

I think he looks lovely. Looking at your photo from the sales I would say he has lost a bit of porkiness and looks a good weight going into winter. How are you getting on with him?

We have formed a bond so quickly it really has surprised me!
Didnt really know where to start with lunging and free schooling so had a friend help me, and I think we have that one cracked now.
We put him in a bridle and bit last weekend for the first time, and he was a star. Just let him stand and chew on the bit for a while to get used to something in his mouth (other than food!;);)) and he took no notice whatsoever.
So tommorrow we are going to attempt long reining. Wish us luck!!!

I am just so worried about him getting too fat, maybe to an un-neccessary degree that is spoiling things slightly. I am not rugging him unless its chucking it down with rain, or going to freeze overnight. He has a soaked haynet, a carrot, an apple and just a small handful of chaff as a token, and out in the field all day.
I am lunging and free schooling almost every day, but I dont want to get an over fit pony that turns difficult to handle.
But I lurve him!

It sounds to be as though you are doing everything right. Keep on enjoying him.
