It seems to bug me slightly that everyone I speak to is trying to get to HOYS.
Speaking to a girl the other day and she was going on about taking her 5 year old to HOYS next year....She is yet to do a show off the yard and unfortunately the pony isn't anything special. She then turns and states that her pony wouldn't beat mine in a dressage or show etc. However my little mare has been to HOYS but around 16years ago so obviously Shes not as up to standard as she used to be. But it just really annoys me that all these young girls never school properly or even go off the yard for shows and yet still recon they can get to HOYS. Then state at me, oh it's easy for you since yours has already been there. She's bound to do well.
Ugh, rant over. Annoying girls.

They have hopes and dreams, may seem far fetched but hey it is possible for them to get there. Hopefully they will manage to improve their schooling and get to some shows...it doesnt annoy me when people say these things. Would rather be encouraging.
Its great that you got to HOYS, it may be years ago but maybe you could give them tips?

It wasnt me that got there, that's the thing. They act like it was though around me. My pony did so they us like "Oh your ponies done it so it's easy for you."
The problem is these girls spend their time drinking and partying. Not that I've got a problem with That, it's just they don't seem dedicated to it. Then complain when the horse isn't winning shows.

Oh ok, well, they will soon realise they arent going to get anywhere if they dont put the work in. Maybe say, why dont you do this.... Or how about trying that...? things you think may encourage them? i can understand it may annoy you but they arent really hurting anyone are they? we have plenty of people at our yard saying they want to get to places like hickstead and hoys. One woman actually got to jump at hickstead this year for the first time and she is in her 30's, its a huge achievement as we are from a charity and never had proper training, we've taught eachother. So nothing is impossible, be supportive and encouraging, it will make you feel better rather than getting annoyed :)

Yeah, will try and be civil haha. Just wanted a rant since I felt sorry for my little pony constantly being picked on by others.
Well done to the lady on your yard! Bet she felt amazing! And I know it can eventually happen but time and dedication are needed which these girls don't get then criticize my pony for "knowing it all".

Yeah i can see it can be annoying but just remind them it takes alot of hard work to get to places like that and just because your pony went there before, doesnt mean you wouldnt have to work hard to get there again :)
We all get p'd off sometimes, im in a diplomatic mood but i can see your point of view too :)

Vanner-dont particularly agree with that, they may not know, doesnt mean they will never know. Sometimes people need nudging in the right direction.
