I haven't done a report in ages but it was a bit of a strange day so thought why not!
Wasn't feeling 100% so was dragging my heels and not very full of energy. kept forgetting things when I was trying to leave the yard.
Got there and got on with no problem, went to the warm up and it was packed so went to the other arena, Molly wasn't having any of it, kept spooking at the fillers on the floor then reared up and spun when I leant forward to open the gate - and the best bit was all the people sitting outside the canteen just watched not one offered to open the gate for me! Anyway eventually some nice lady came along and helped, she then acted like a 2yr old spinning and spooking at the wooden judges box! In the process she ripped her back shoe off but felt sound so I kept on.

They were then running 20min late, started well (we were on 7's and 8's) then unbeknown to me some brat decided to show off on her pony and have an argument with it right outside the entrance to the indoor school. I wondered what on earth was going on as I didn't see or hear it but Mol's obviously did as all of a sudden she went from being responsive and soft to snorting, and going completely tense through her neck. I did contemplate retiring as I really had no control. Anyway somehow finished on 62.5%.

Was going to scratch but her foot felt fine and I didn't want to leave her on that spooky note as it take a lot to get her confidence back. Went in for E50 and got 67.9% which is our highest score to date so was very pleased with that, she just lost balance in one of the simple changes and jammed her head up in the free walk so at least ended on a good note.

Also restored my faith in mankind, a lady in the warm up actually pointed out my shoe, her OH then fished it out for me and after seeing what happened to me in my first test he then came and closed the gate behind me and was on 'kid' control so it didn't happen again. Great to meet such lovely people at shows.

Hey!!!!!!What a day!!!!!!To get that "big" score you wanted too!!! Excellent I hope you are very pleased!! I did hear that it was packed there from some at our yard that went..and how rude that no one helped you in the first instance!! Tut!

What a shame about the "brat" outside...grhhhhhhh!!!!

Thanks yeah it was packed, I struggled to get out the car park!
Was pleased but its still not good enough there was someone on 68.9% when I left and still half the class to go. So frustrating as I REALLY want to qualify but at least we are gradually getting towards the scores we are capable of.
Almost finished my floor plan too so going to get it videod on thurs am and then get the music done - very excited.
So glad to hear your boy is on the mend, should see you out and about soon.

Fab about floor plan!!! Now, how did you time this? Out of interest I am re-arranging mine and finding it difficult to do on my own... I think I need a stop watch... ie... say 2mins trot, 1 min walk, 3 mins canter etc...etc...?? I hope to you out and about doing music next time then!! Yippee!! It is such good fun!! What kinda music then???!!!

There are two shows per month at HPF, which the liveries welcome and indeed compete in.
HPF is a very large yard with 78 horses - two outdoor schools and an indoor school.

When shows are on for dressage the indoor school and one of the outdoor schools are used for the competition leaving us with only one outdoor school - for 78 horses.

I was at HPF on Sunday and saw you warming up. You and a few other riders were in the outdoor school which is supposed to be for liveries only. As one of the organisers had had an accident that morning, I put the "Livery only" notice up on the gate but accept that you were already in the school. I took the decision not to ask you to move into the other one as I thought you were going to do your test shortly.

Due to the amount of rain we have had before and after Christmas the turn out for the horses has been stopped so the horses are fresher than normal. Unfortunately my horse was the one who played up outside the arena. She like any other horse can play up when she wants too.

The girl you referred to as a "brat" is actually 17 and a very very competent rider. People outside the arena were as unaware of your horses reaction as you were to what was actually going on outside.

At HPF we are all aware of the etiquette when shows are on and try and help out as much as we can but we are there to get our horses exercised. My horse does not hack out so that only leaves me with the option of using the schools for her which are used until about 7.30pm on show days which is too late for me to exercise my horses.
