I went to a HT on Sunday. It was at the place where I do all my xc schooling with Zoom so I was feeling quite confident. There was classes from beginners at 2' all the way to 3'3. I decided to enter the 2'6 and 2'9 but thought I would walk the course on Saturday and then enter on the day.

Good thing I did  The 2' was not too bad but there were a couple of jumps that were NOT 2' and the 2'6 had a trakhener that was horrible!!! It was up to height and off a 90degree left turn. You could only fit in about 4 strides after the turn and it was jumping into the dark woods of the grass gallop track. Horrible horrible horrible!!!

I decided to do the 2foot as a warm up and then the 2'6. We started off well in the small class jumping brilliantly, Zoom then decided it was easy and boring and I should sling my hook since she knew better  There was lots of leaping and silliness.

We also fell up both sets of steps since she wasn't concentrating. Anyhoo an easy clear but REALLY slow for 11th place. I was a bit disappointed to be honest but I guess she gets so tense and bouncy she doesn't move forward and cover the ground.

I decided to do the 2'6. My friend (fellow HHOer!) was the rider before me so i watched them set off. Over the first few fine. They then did the turn into the trakhener......and 2 secs later I saw her horse buggering off across the field without her :( The horse that never stops had put in a dirty stop and deposited her on the jump. Took 20 minutes to catch him (cheeky boy) and it was my turn to go. Confidence was zero at this point! I set off and Zoom was MUCH better over the bigger height.

The first few were the same but with extra bits added to make them bigger but then the course changed with a sharp left turn over an open ditch into the woods. It took Zoom by suprised so she wobbled but went so good girl. Back right out of the woods, over a palisade and then the horrible turn to the trakhener. I went really wide and then just kicked and kicked! She backed off but a pony club kick and growl and she went :D She just caught her back leg a bit by going on a long one but safely over so very pleased. Then onto the double, it wasn't big but ground was pretty ****........I rode confidently but she stopped :( Circled and she popped it second time no bother. Clear over the rest and a MUCH better round.

So very pleased with her again. Still need to go faster though and stop our stop-itis in the bigger class. She is gaining in confidence over the bigger jumps so hopefully next time we'll go clear over the big 'uns.

CC welcome, thanks for reading. :D

ETA photo links don't work :( BOO rubbish!!!!

Those are the two photos I'm thinking of getting!! :D I love the one on the flat, although when I saw it on the day, i've got wierd psycho eyes!

There were several people who withdrew due to the height of the 2 foot class. I got chatting to a lady who had entered her daughter and her friend in pairs and individual thinking it would be suitable for beginners. They wouldn't refund the money which was a bit mean I thought as that last jump definately wasn't 2 foot!

Hey your photos were all good :) Zoom was Good You rode well as always.

I ache ache ache :( the ground was hard and the jump even harder...:(

Did you get your time emailed to you yet???

i LOVE the way zoomy's mane always sticks straight up in photos - makes her look like she's going really fast even if she's actually just fizzing up and down...!!

Poor you hun, it was one hell of a fall. :( At least it was at the most horrible jump in the history of hunter trials......it would have been worse if you fell at a roll top!

The Zoom-fro! I have pulled and trimmed that barnet within an inch of it's life.....but it still looks awful! :D
