Just got back from the yard, it was even worse being there. Everyone was just standing round talking about it. These people knew exactly what they were doing, they've left all the wintecs and small pony saddles. They started talking bridles but stopped after a few sheds and then just stood saddles which is a relief because we had 2 elevator bridles.
They've taken our broken clippers (can't help but smile) and didn't take the new ones which were under a rug. Some people have had everything from hats to grooming kits taken but others have had locks broken off but nothing taken. Some saddles were taken with covers, stirrups and girths but others were stripped.
They broke the lock off our hay barn obviously thinking it was a tack store but unlucky for them iy was completely empty bar half a bale of hay.
Tree surgery equipment and a small trailer were taken, and the whole lot has now been valued at £50,000. I would rather my saddles had been burnt or damaged beyond use, the worst part is knowing that they are out there somewhere.
Stolen on Tuesday 9th January after 10pm from Chessington, Surrey
16.5" light brown Bates caprilli close contact jump saddle currently fitted with a blue medium wide gullet, it has a bates cair keyring and was stolen with a black roma saddlecloth, brown stubben leathers with stirrups and a synthetic girth still attached. This saddle is only 2 months old and is in immaculate condition.
17" brown Ideal jessica dressage saddle fitted with flair. This saddle has the letter m stamped on the stirrup bar and it had a suede seat and knee rolls. This saddle was stolen with the red albion cover still on it but the saddcloth was removed and left. I bought this saddle 2 days ago and have ridden in it once so I am distraught about its theft.
16.5" black medium wide Albion gp. This saddle is very unique because it has point straps both sides but a balance strap on the right hand side only. At the time of theft it had a "Sparrow" tag on the D-ring. It was stolen along with a black jeffries gel-filled girth.
16" black wide Ideal vsd. The stirrups on it are unusual because they have a different shaped buckle to reduce bulk under the rider's leg.
16" black Ideal gp. This saddle is very distinctive because the Ideal studs have been replaced with Martin Wilkinson ones.

Epsom/Leatherhead in Oct.
Horsley in Oct and back again in Nov. to the same yard to get the new stuff.
Watch out - they'll be back to get the stuff you buy to replace what's been taken.
All our saddles - only one is not either knackered or synthetic - have been microchipped as if they did get taken I want the satisfaction of the police being able to prove they have been stolen.
Police stopped a van going to the ferry to eire in Sept. with 350 saddles in it - they knew they were stolen but not one single saddle was marked or chipped so they had to let the guy go.
