Took her to the vets to have her booster, and she screeched as she was injected
frown.gif
Makes me realise that her pain threshold is not very high....

Then as I was leading Bob out to the field (horse in one hand, dogs very firmly in the other and on the other side of me) Flick managed to get tangled up in Bob
crazy.gif
Only visible damage was a bleeding toe, but nothing is broken as I can manipulate everything etc etc. But she obviously ricked her neck trying to twist away from the horse, as she now squeaks every time she tries to lift her head above the horizontal

She did manage to eat her tea (bowl carefully raised up to make it easier for her) and somehow managed to run up the stairs and jump onto my bed with no problem

but couldnt get downstairs again, I had to carry her!

So she has had half an aspirin stuffed down her, and she is resting on the sofa next to me now

I'll see how she is overnight/tomorrow morning and pop her to the vets tomorrow if needs be

She is very subdued which is horrible as normally she is a manic livewire

Hugs for Flick

- she clearly needs to spend the night curled up on the bed with mummy!!

Poor little Flick....such a bad mummy letting nasty needle man stab you and then letting big stompy horse trample you - still at least your on the sofa now and the bed looks like a dead cert.....

Oh no poor girlie. She is clearly a bit of a mard arse although being trampled by a mad snorting beastie must have hurt.
I daren't have horses and dogs out together, with my lot it is a sure fire disaster waiting to happen.

I am reflecting that you are very probably right there Mattilda - it is always the way, so far they have been fine together and have kept their distance with no problems, not really sure what happened tonight as they seemed to be behind me when it kicked off

Lesson learned and very lucky that Flick isnt too badly hurt I think

In fact sometimes it is a struggle to move two happy greyhounds and find some space for myself

I love that she could get up the stairs but not down though

Well she SAID she couldnt get down
tongue.gif
Although she did not object to being tenderly lifted up and carried gently down the stairs

Bless her. I hope she feels better soon. It sounds quite like the few times that Puppy hurt a muscle in her neck (the very same thing with the stairs and eating). Hope that's all it is, and she soon feels better. xx

I would not be surprised if it's the booster thats still causing the pain depending on where it goes it can be very sore afterwards for a while, my little whippey yelps for days after an injection
crazy.gif
she is well OTT with the drama

Get well soon pup dog1 Haz did that to his neck whilst chasing...He jumped a ditch that was around 15 foot across.... He didn't quite make it and jarred himself. A weeks worth of rimadyl and 'lead rest' helped enormously ! Any news on the prickly problem?

Thats really interesting Cala - the pain seems to be centered on the top of her left shoulder blade, so around where he injected her? I have never had a dog which reacted to a vaccination before - I assumed it was the 'horse incident' as I hadnt noticed her being particularly sensitive before, but when I think about it, she hadnt actually done much between arriving at the yard and her being trampled upon

I must admit that I havent got around to phoning the hedgehog people yet, mainly because it has temporarily gone away

and the excitement of last night!

Flick has decided that resting is the best option, particularly stretched out on my bed

Good on Flick!!!!Not so good for you as nothing beats a smelly duvet cover ( actually bet Flick isn't smelly at all! Haven't met too many smelly greyhounds!) x
