What is the difference?

Ive been looking at both and the price difference is huge - human clippers are so so much cheaper!

Why?

Could you use human hair clippers on horses - feathers etc?

You could prob get away with doing feathers if your horse only has TB type feathers. But please dont try and clip more hair than that with them as they cant handle that much hair and make the most horrendous noise!
I watched a fellow yard member attempt to clip her horse with dog clippers! It was awful, her pony was so good and just stood there. i got concerned tho and clipped her with my clippers for free. One of my less selfish moments :p

ah right thank you for explaining - no good for me then - hes a very hairy cob. :)

I used to trace clip a pony with dog clippers - she was anxious and they were much quieter than the horse clippers. They lasted several clips, if I remember, they only cost about £20.

Basically the difference is the power & gearing of the motor. Human hair is thin & easy to cut/clip/shave but horse hair is a lot thicker, sometimes oilier & needs much more power to get the job done. Even the so called trimmers for clipping facial hair & feathers are invariably not powerful enough to use on a horse. :)

yep i ended up with a patchwork horse, not one of my best ideas  i ended up clipping out my name across his back before i gave up but all was good because he had a full clip from a professional the nextday :D dont think i will be using human clippers again!

I've got some Wahl human clippers which I use for the tricky bits on the head, ears, my TB's heels, bits you can't get to with big clippers, and they're ideal for introducing clipping to a youngster as they're much quieter, also mine are cordless.
Def. wouldn't clip a hairy cob tho', I have one and I use two sets of big blades to clip her right out! She has hair like a Yak ;)

I have a hairy Welsh Cob x TB and use whal human clippers (£8.00 from B + M Bargains) on her feathers. It came with lots of attachments so start off with a no 4 first (i think) if they are really hairy and then go over them with the smallest attachment at the end. I have used them for a year now and had no trouble. I bought them because I got so frustrated with my Lister trimmers not doing a good job at all even with the blades sharpened. Wouldn't recommend them for anything more than feathers or ears or for putting a pattern on her bum!

oooooooo ty!!!!
I really only want them for the feathers - he gets clipped by my friend but it would be good if I could keep up to his feathers myself :D
