Hi,

Just wondered if anyone else has had this injury and if it required surgery, how long were you out of action riding for?

I had a fall jumping in July, went to docs who sent me to physio. Have been to the orthopedic doctor today who said should have been scanned at the onset (exactly what i thought!), he's examined and said definitely medial meniscal damage and is referring me to the specialist. Not sure what the outcome will be but i'm guessing as its no better 8 months on then surgery is a possibility. :( Hope not but just want to prepare myself for how long of boredom i could be up for!

I did this. Also went to dr who thought mine was a ligament! Had done one of those and said this was completely different and could feel cartilage tearing. Also got sent to physio and rest! No better, got referred. Had very big tear on mri and a bone chip in the joint. Had lost muscle from being told not to exercise!! I think the surgery recovery is very quick from a meniscal tear. Up and running in less than a week? Sadly I was 8 weeks on crutches dt bone chip repair. Hopefully, you will get sorted quickly.

Hi I also had meniscal tear last march -not certain how I did it but had to go through the usual physio etc etc. then in October I was finally referred to surgeon who did MRI and I had an arthroscopy in November. Results are that he "tidied it up" as best he could but there is a lot of arthritis there so will eventually have to have a knee replacement:(. As for riding I was back on board in about eleven days
