OH is in the dog house.

I went for a ride yesterday and OH let the dogs out for a play in the garden while I was out. All good until he produced a ball......... He knew last time a ball was introduced there was a fight between Elsie (Rottie) and Poppy (Staffy), but didn't think.

Of course the same happened again. It wasn't serious but apparently very noisy and they left each other alone when OH shouted at them. No skin was broken on either of them, but Poppy is sore where Elsie's big chops wrapped round her shoulders and bit her. She is happy and bouncy and running about like a lunatic but a bit tender.

Can I give her ipruprofen, one tablet perhaps? Just thought it would ease the aches and pains and take down any inflamation.

Can I also tak a shotgun to OH, or would this not be a very good idea.........?

I was just going to reply with 'why would you take a dog to the vet that is just tender but has no broken bones/puncture wounds and is her normal lunatic self etc etc', when I realise you probably meant ring the vet and ask if she can have brufen and if so how much :D

Will give the vet a ring, although I might not beable to get past the receptionist...... :D

Yep, that's exactly what I meant - just give them a buzz:D

HELLL NOOO!!! to the ibuprofen!
Ring your vet they can tell you what your dog can get....and if they can tell you a dose for the weight.Plus they will have you medical history so will no what drugs to avoid based on it.

also see this thread for more on why to avoid the likes of aspirin and other human drugs unless you vet specifically tells you to.
The ulcers that dogs get from ulcers can and do kill.

I remembered I had some Metacam in the cupboard, so she has had some of that.

Poor girl is so stiff and sore, I am still cross at OH for getting the ball out when he knows they fight over it.

Thanks for the link to the thread regarding human painkillers though, I will know in future not to be tempted to give the dogs any :)

NO WAY! Not even paracetamol!! Animals can have major reactions to human painkillers! I've known of a cat to die in hours from eating a paracetamol off someones floor!
