I've spent the whole morning with what I can only describe as acute colic... I get up, I sit down, I don't want to eat my breakfast, I poke my tummy because it hurts, I roll around a bit, I'm very unhappy! Please can someone call the vet to put me out of my misery...

On the plus side, when I get better tomorrow, I will have a lot more sympathy for my neddies..

Liquid bute and a good old rectal examination. If that shows nothing I'd try liquid paraffin and we'll tube you as well just in case you've got gas in your stomach.

Sound good?!

No no, liquid paraffin is evil - I've cleaned out one too many stables afterwards.. Bran mash might be the way forward (made up with vodka or similar)...

I had colic a few years back and finally understood my horses agony. I also took to rolling about on the floor holding my stomach! Now if my byo gets colic I fully sympathise with him.
