Hungarian Vizsla

Hi,

Does anyone know of a place where to find Short Haired Vizsla who needs re homing? (as a pet not to be a working dog)
My OH and I are considering in getting a dog in the next year or so and we both really like Vizslas!
The family I used to live with when I was an aupair few years ago has one and she is such a lovely dog. I had "sole charge" of her 5 days a week (as well as the children!) and it's mad how quickly she learnt things! (they got her as a 2 months old puppy soon after I started to work for them)
She also used to come with me when I took the childs pony for a hack everyday and she was so good.
I know they are quite a few breeders around but as much as we would like a puppy we don't want to encourage breeding so thought of re homing one

If you google "viszla rescue" a few things come up although as with most of the less common breeds the breeders tend to be a little more responsible when it comes to homing their puppies so it's unusual to find a youngster in rescue. The breeders often take their dogs back if they need to be rehomed for any reason. Good luck with your search.

Haha...you rang?! Yep you need to contact Sue Millson who is our club welfare officer. She will be able to place you on the list for a rescue. It can take a long time for the right dog to come along so best to contact asap. Sue can be reached via email at sue@lutra.me.uk or phone 01892 834178. If you send me your contact details via pm and a little more info about yourself, your family and circumstances I can also forward you on to a breeder that sometimes has older dogs returned or coming in from other breeders that need rehoming.
