I am after a hunt coat quite desperately. I only hunt once a week so it won't be used to death and don't want to spend over £200.

I liked the Shires Clifton but it only comes in Black and my hat is Navy. Does anybody have the Shires Marlborough (much lighter than the clifton) and if so how warm is it?

So suggestions please, I need to order one today if poss!!

Yes as above look on eBay.

There was a second hand ETautz Navy coat that had no bids at two hundred. Its ended now but I have the sellers eBay name if you want it. That may be top of your budget and second hand but there are others new for less. Just try and get as good as you can afford. Those light weight ones look terrible cold.

I am a bit of an expert on the ebay hunt coat market having been scouring it for months for the right coat. As a result I now have two black Harry Hall coats which don't quite fit me right which I am going to put back on ebay, if anyone wants to make me an offer now! Size 36 and 38.

For second hand ones, most seem to go for between £70 and £120, but you do have to wait til the right one comes up and then take a risk on the fit (always ask for all the measurements first though!). I've also bought a new Shires Clifton from an ebay seller called Prequestrian for £115 all in, but that has gone back because I didn't like the fit of that either! However, it did look solid and heavy enough. I would have thought the Marlborough would be similar, I always assumed the difference was just the waist seam. Also, worth looking at at the moment, there are a stack of navy coats on ebay, new, all sizes, from a seller called p.c.equest, priced at £120. As for other new ones, I noticed the other day that www.darkhorseuk.com is selling "inexpensive hunt coats" for £189, might be worth a look. I'm fed up of the ebay toing and froing now and have decided to buy a new Caldene Wessex coat. They are more expensive, but I have tried one on so I know it fits, and I have found one on www.amirashop. at £275, which is a lot cheaper than most other retailers.

Sorry for the ramble, good luck in finding one. Oh, and just a thought - it might be easier and cheaper to buy a black hat cover than faff around trying to find the right hunt coat in navy (from bitter experience).
