This is just an idea I've had, and I was wondering who would be interested in setting it up and getting it going?

It would work in a similar way to school exchanges...

The general idea is to get people hunting with different packs, hosted by hunting folk, and getting people visiting their hunt in return.

So, for example, you would come and hunt with the Bilsdale, staying with us, we would sort out a hirleing for you (if you needed one, at your cost) and you would get a fab day's hunting followed by true yorkshire hospitality (gone2ground should be able to vouch for us!!)

In return we would come and visit you, and have a days hunting with you, with the same idea (you would arrange hirelings if needed, at our cost).

I think this would be a brilliant way of getting to hunt with different packs when you don't necessarily know anyone there, and hopefully make it a bit less expensive for everyone, but not having accommodation to pay for on top of everything else for hunting!

let me know what you think!

A similar thing has just been launched on The Master's Voice webzine trying to foster links between packs in different countries.

A UK scheme would be great fun. Here we have a joint-meet with our neighbouring pack, which they then reciprocate and the mounted lot have been known to go visiting packs elsewhere.

Hi Jen. Quite a few packs do this already. The latest 'Hounds' magazine lists out the hunts that did this last season. Ourselves, we had a reciprocal visit with the Vale of Lune: we took our horses there and they brought theirs down here, staying a night or two each weekend at hunt followers homes/stables. I can highly recommend it as it's great to see different country and hounds, and lovely to meet new hunting people. And the hospitality bit is quite good too. Go for it.
