Short of phoning up all the nearby hunts - I will do the most local anyway - what publication would it be worth advbertising a potential hunt horse in? Hes a failed showjumper, lovely Irish horse, and I think would make a wonderful hunter. Hounds mag? Is that still going?

any chance you could take him out to prove him first? He would be worth more and far easier to sell if he had it under his belt..

Agree with the above poster I would take him out hunting first really, so that it can be checked he is good with hounds and all the other horses etc. Some hunts now have a classifed section on their websites and I would say HnH, Hounds is still going but is not published reguarly, think it's one every 1/2 month(s) and I'm not sure that they have a horse section?

I'm not brave enough now to take a young horse for the first time, pathetic really! I probably know someone who can though. Thing is the friend who wants to sell him only wants a few hundred, but I suppose if he took to hunting he would be worth a lot more. HnH probably still the best bet.

If he only wants a few hundred best to get him away and let the new owner put in the work, as others have said no one can predict how he will behave, and that is important.
There are young lads who love to do this sort of thing, best to sell him to to one of them or pay for them to take him and school him, but this gets quite expensive quite quickly and again there is no guarantee

I didn't mean that hounds wasn't published on time or anything, just meant it not published reguarly like HnH which is published weekly. And I don't think they do any horses for sale, I couldn't see any in the issue that landed through my door the other day?
