I've got another leatherworking project idea, a sandwich case.

Looking at these things on web shops, I get the impression that they must be in left-hand and right-hand versions, that they attach to a D on the saddle and then the loop goes around the billets, is that right?

I've been looking particularly at this model; the images are about the clearest I've yet seen.

Would you fit one of these in front or behind? Could it go in either position, for example between in front nearside or behind offside?

Have always fitted behind the saddle, whatever side it works, I.e in that makes case on the offside. There are a few places that now do them from new, I believe one I saw even let you choose the side. I am not sure what is traditionally ‘correct’ actually. Believe a hip flask should be worn on the near side at the front but could be incorrect.

My previous one ripped through so has been thrown away, so I am after a new one that preferably has a small flap of fabric to keep the car key in. Much like many handbags do. Perhaps an idea for yours?
