I am a 17 year old boy which really enjoys hunting on a regular basis, both mounted and on a quad bike. I would really like some more information on joining hunt service, i know it is not the most well payed job! but its a way of life. Any hints and tips on the best way to get on my way in hunt service would be most helpful! I have already contacted the hunting office and we will see what becomes of it. However i would just like some advice from people with greater experience! Such as the required attributes etc. I would like to be a mounted kennelman, or a Whip. so any help would be great, many thanks.

If you regulary follow hounds as you say approach your Huntsman as he is your best source of infomation on this matter. Our young whip with our pack has hunted with us his pony from the age of ten, he then joined the MFHA Bursary sceme whilst at school and is now in his 2nd season as a profesional whip.

Thats your best place to start but failing that get in contact with the MFHA and there point you in the right direction. Best of luck with your career choice.
