I was out walking last night and accidently stood on a small branch, a sharp piece of the twig pierced up through my boot right through the sole - the boots are now useless as not waterproof! (proven by my soggy sock on return from said walk!)

Boots are under 3 months old.

Hunter say this is accidental damage so not covered by the manufacturer warranty.

However, for 60 quid I would expect them to be "outstanding in every field" not just perfectly flat, manicured ones?

Am i being unreasonable. im so pissed off!

I had my other pair for 10 years ish and can say they were definately worth it in comparison to how long cheap ones last (im a bit hardcore and dont pansy around in them) but have to say these new ones seem a different quality. I wont be buying again i dont think.

The new ones are of a lower quality as they are no longer made in the UK. I *think* they are now made in China??????? I certainly won't buy another pair, after mine went into holes within a month!!!!!!!!

That is because Hunter were brought out by another company and are now manufacturered differently. I would steer well clear of them in future as the quality has really gone down hill and they don't last any thing like as long.

I thought I had read something like that on here - well the quality difference is very clear. we are a 'hunter' fmaily, or always have been, and slosh around in ours daily. Wont be buying again - any of the 6 of us! Couldnt help but send a sarky email back to Hunter.

all very well having these expensive fashionably versions, but what they were known for was quality!!

Hunter boots are not as good as they used to be. About 10 / 15 years ago you could expect a pair of hunter originals to last about 5 years. All of mine and my friends lasted that long. Then all of a sudden, about 5 years ago the material changed and they seemed more 'plasticy' and now a pair of hunter originals wont last more than about 6 months of moderate wear - they usually split along the sole near the ball of the foot. Everyone I have spoke to agrees and no one I know wears Hunters anymore as they are no longer worth the money.

Re Vicky1986 I sent an email to Hunter as well, but they just sent a bland reply saying the quality and materials has never altered....so the next time I went up to my parents farm, I looked high and low to see if I could find any old hunter wellies tucked away, and I did!
The rubber on the old ones says made in Scotland and it smells of real rubber and is much more malleable (spelling?), compared to the more brittle, plasticy rubber that they are made with now. So Hunter lied to me, and they have definitely changed the materials the boots are made from, and which earned them their great reputation from years ago

I get annoyed because I use to love my old hunter wellies, but I'm not spending £60 every 3 months on wellies.
