Hunter Wellies

I sport a pair of dead ordinary highly unfashionable Dunlops I bought for less than a tenner about 8 yrs ago. They need a boot liner for comfort but they are still waterproof. .. seeing how many people's expensive wellies leak like sieves I will replace them witj another pair of Dunlops whrn they eventually die!

But if they're as rubbish as people are saying, why pay £50?

Another disgruntled ex hunter wearer, I used to wear mine until I went through the soles,at least 5 years, now they crack at the ankle an leak in months. I have tried the town & country hunter copies, they only do 6 months or so,but are 1/2 price of hunters. Toggi wanderers are good, I had a pair that did a couple of years, bit warm for summer.

My no 1 choice is muckboots tynes - fabbbbbbb, wore mine for everything, riding, stable work, gardening, shopping (yes they are that comfy) every day spring, autumn and winter (again too hot for a summer wellie). Had 2 pairs, each lasted around 3 years. Only prob is I note they have rocketed in price so may have to think again - have heard good things about ariat mudbusters.

My first pair of Hunters lasted me from age 15 to 32 (ish), my second pair from 32ish to 39 - the last ones that I will ever buy got me from 39 to 40, although during that year they split and had to be replaced before the year was up. I looked around and decided that I no longer trust any of the expensive brands and instead went for a pair of 'Brantano Specials' that cost the princely sum of £22. They fit OK, are perfectly waterproof and got me through that last very wet and very cold winter:) The only problem I've had is that the buckles on the outside have bent, but that was probably my fault for overtightening them - but most importantly - they've outlasted a pair of £75 Hunters!

Uttings Century 2000 Proper copy of the Old Scottish Made Hunter, made in Europe and Gum Dipped, but only in Green or Blue. also Uttings are cutting their tyes with Hunter because the Quality is so poor.

I used to buy cheaper wellies but was going through 3 or 4 pairs each year. So not really cheap even at £20 per pair.
One time I actually had some money in my account and when I went to the shop I bought Aigle wellies. That was 3 years ago and they are still good. They cost about £100 and I boggled at paying that for wellies, but they have been cheaper in the long run.

My £10 Dunlops are now on their 3rd year :)
