Ive had this horse since he was 4, he is now nearly 10, hes a full flat bred TB so hunting him into the ground so to speak isnt really an option. (Though the thought has crossed my mind
)
He is competitive at the front and when he can see whats going on (and feels important) he is better, which is fine when I hunt him as I kick on and jump most.
Mum on the other hand doesnt want to be a young thruster any more and isnt mad keen on jumping on heavy ground so tries to keep him quiet at the back, this doesnt work and he ends up fighting her, plunging, wont wait and generally acting like he is wired to the moon (My mother has ridden all her life, hunted extensively, raced on the flat and over fences, so no novice!).
He is such a darling in all other aspects of life and I had hoped he would settle into a ladies on the buckle hunter.
I hunt him in a Cheltenham gag and find him manageable in it, (everything else he is just in a plain snaffle hunting for him; - is the bees knees!!)
What are your experiences with fizzy breechered horses, and how have you solved it?
