Just wondering what peoples toughts are on gettin a hhorse out huntin that is not a forward thinkin horse???

Think it would be great for Murphy - get him motivated ! He is not one to give a slap to and get him going as he is quite defiant and will get more backwards on you. Working realy hard with him and my trainer who is really good and understands him as had one similar.

Just wondered if we go hunting for a season if anyone has seen a change in their horse after hunting???

Any thoughts appreciated.

cheers
Tia

ummmmm

not really in Frank's case, perhaps he needs to go more, he really enjoys it but is still a lazy sod most of the rest of the time

but a lovable one.

This is what I plan on doing with my backward thinking mare this season. Fingers crossed it makes a difference

Ive considered it but neither me or my boy are very brave and I worry it would blow his brains as hes a spooky backwards type, if you know what I mean.

Hasn't made a difference with D despite the fact that when we've been it's with the Readyfield who are known for being seriously fast.

She loves hunting but goes immediately back to being a nice relaxing hack when we're at home again. People said it would blow her mind and spoil her for hacking but it hasn't.

I would say the only difference it made to her was me. Once you've galloped flat out down hill in the middle of 80 other horses there are very few things that seem scary any more.

Ha ha! I couldn't agree more than with your reply. My son's pony is more idle than backwards but out hunting, he is raring to go right to the finish and gets very keen. Back home - lazy kipper. Daughter's pony is mega off the leg but as sane as they come with the field and hunts in a snaffle! Sharp as a tack everywhere else.

Just to add to the mix!

Think you are just going to have to try it and see
