I'm going hunting for the first time on Saturday. To say I'm excited is an understatement lol.

So is there any hunting do's and dont's I should be aware of?

Obviously I know you have to turn out in your show gear, horses plaited etc and don't over take the huntsman but that's about it.

Lucky ****** (not been able to go this season) ... Black boots, beige breeches, stock with pin and big black hunt coat, most hunts were rather u were warm and dry so if no hunt coat then tweed if warm and if no tweed the improvise. Horse plaited and clean, green ribbon in tail to show not been before and let secretary know u r coming. Best bet stay behind a friend or friendly horse u know wont kick and do as field master tells u...Def need report and pics after.... Have fun

I've only got a black show jacket and show shirt as I usually show jump. Will that be ok? Didn't really wanna go out and buy all new stuff as may never do it again.

Tweed would be better but sure u will be fine with what u have, v neck jumper underneath may be required for warmth. Everyone tends to turn up tacked up so if u get there and need to tack up leave yourself enough time, I always think I am early then everyone calmly pulls out ready to go horses from lorries while I scrabble about, last few times I travelled with saddle on but put bridle on in lorry before unloaded so could just jump on. , nothing worse than being rushed, oh and spurs if u have them and black gloves, hairnet if long hair and plain silk. Eeek v excited for u

Thank you for all your advice :) We're actually hacking there as hunt is only 5 mins up the road but was planning on getting there early so horses can have a bit of a rest first. I'm so excited I could burst, only thing I'm not looking forward to is plaiting lol. Will try and get pics if i can. Thanks again
