Looking for a friendly hunt to try within easy distance of Crich. Followed foxhounds (Holderness and Burton) previously but would be interested in other options too. Current horse stands at meet and well mannered on the move (front/back/on own) but impatient once hounds move off and on slow days! Jumps a variety of fences up to about 3'3", probably a bit bigger over hedges. Need somewhere we can build fitness early season as nearly killed her going straight to a big jumping meet mid season last year despite coming in before second horses :( Hoping to be moved by the start of November.

The Four Shires Bloodhounds are a great pack, really love them. Extremely friendly, warm people. They have two fields, a jumping & non-jumping, so if you see a fence you don't like you can opt out.

Their first hound exercise is on the 13th September, at Pikehall, Newhaven, (meet card to follow very soon), and the Opening Meet is normally (if the ground & weather is OK) on the first weekend of November.

They hunt every Sunday, meeting at 12 noon, however there can be some weekdays too, with the hound exercises only.

Here is the link to their website, as I said they're meet card will be up shortly. In the meantime, do feel free to call Chris Kane, one of the field masters, or Helen Best, their secretary, phone numbers on the website, as they may be able to give you an idea of some upcoming meets that may be near you.

Thanks, have to say I fancy trying the bloodhounds but the photos I see of the Readyfield always look a bit scary! Looks like a nice variety of country though and cap's cheaper then foxhounds ;) We're still in Lincolnshire at present but hoping to move October sometime, maybe see you out.

Ah yes, but the Readyfield are known for their 'exciting' days! ;) We are much 'calmer' and a lot less wild, but still have that thrill available if you want it. We have a mix of fences, mainly stone walls (2ft9 - 4ftish), however still have plenty of hedges and other fences.

Have a look at Tracy Muir Photography, she's been following us these past few seasons, and has a few albums of the 4 Shires in action. :) https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.1040441322636398.1073741868.545072878839914&type=3
